Jonny is currently immersed in the hilarious world of Eight Minutes Idle - an independent feature film funded by ifeatures and set in a Bristol call centre! Producer Sarah Cox describes it as "a delicious mix of dark comedy and twisted love story"...
In The Dark Half had it's world premiere at London's Raindance Film Festival in October - congratulations to everyone involved, including us!
We completed Jaguars, which was the last in the excellent Night Stalkers series, and moved swiftly on to another innovative documentary from Ammonite Films - The Hunt for the Giant Squid - once again employing pioneering technology, this time a 500 metre fibre optic camera was used to film the impenetrable depths of the oceans in pursuit of the elusive sea monster!
Our diaries this Spring have been full of exciting projects! We've kept our heads down and produced some fantastic work. We completed The Dark Half, a feature length ghost story set in the West Country. We really enjoyed working on this production and creating suitably eerie sound for it.
We've also just completed two series: Ocean Giants for BBC and Night Stalkers for National Geographic. It was great working on two such contrasting projects simultaneously in the last three months. The former explores the oceans and the amazing behaviour patterns of whales and dolphins, and the latter takes us to dry Africa to watch hyenas, leopards and crocodiles using night-vision technology. Both projects contain wonderful footage, and we've created sound that reflects the awe inspiring nature of one and the element of danger in the other!
By mid June we will have completed Meerkats 3D, an endearing production about the lives of meerkats, shown in exciting 3D!
The team were very busy in the latter part of 2010 and beginning of 2011. Kate and Tim spent two weeks in London over the Christmas period completing both African Cats and Life The Movie. African Cats is due to be released on 22 April 2011 and we're looking forward to seeing it on the big screen!
We also been working on Atlantis, a factual drama about the last days of Atlantis. This will air on BBC ONE on SUNDAY, 13 March, at 9 pm. Congratulations to Tony Mitchell on this epic documentary. A trailer can be viewed on YouTube using the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rV9BVTi8t9U.
There has been a great response to the Human Planet programmes that recently aired on BBC1. We very much enjoyed working with the producers and production manager to create such a successful documentary. This is still available to watch on BBC iplayer.
We are in the process of completing the Frozen Planet series. This has been a long term project for us, which we began back in 2009. It includes 6 hour-long programmes dubbed as the 'ultimate portrait of the Earth's polar regions'. These are due to air later in 2011.
The team worked with Andrew Graham-Brown again on Panda Makers, a moving documentary looking at an extraordinary conservation project in Central China. The Chengdu Research Base uses special techniques to breed Giant Pandas and release them into the wild. We were really pleased to be involved in this interesting project. This too can currently be viewed on BBC iplayer.
2010
At present the team are very proud to be in the midst of putting together the sound for two great feature films, African Cats for Disney Nature and Life The Movie for BBC WorldWide.
Great Migrations that we recently completed for National Geographic is now airing with impressive reviews and David Hamlin from National Geographic has the following to say " ...it's the most ambitious project in the Society's 122 year history " " I am very, very proud of the work. In fact, the head of the National Geographic channel told me "...it's the best film National Geographic has ever made." Here's a link the the website that has some great video clips. Check it out --
